Animating a Female Walk Cycle ( Production Assessment A )
I was searching for a suitable video featuring a woman walking, which I could use as a reference for my animation. After spending considerable time on YouTube, I finally found an ideal example that perfectly matched my requirements.
I paid more attention to the details of how women and men walk. I saw their bodies have different movements and adjustments during the walking cycle. Compared to men, women's hands and legs move more gently, and their buttocks area changes shape differently.
The position of the hands is crucial in a key pose. To begin, I created a relaxed pose for the character's fingers.
I found a helpful resource in "The Animator's Survival Kit" book. Using its guidance,
I put the keys on the frames. For contact poses, refer to frames 1, 16 (the opposite of frame one), and 32 (a duplicate of frame one). For downs poses, refer to frames 4 and 19. And for the Up poses, refer to frames 8 and 24.
